Human Expectations

“How am I supposed to be able to bench press 250 pounds ten times?” you may ask, apparently thinking this is something that is expected of you.

The answer? You’re not. You are a human, not a gorilla. Your ability is to do brain surgery. Make Swiss watches. Play violin concertos. Stuff like that.

So maybe you’ll never be faster than a speeding bullet, able to leap tall buildings at a single bound, or reverse the rotation of the earth. But you can design and build an elevator to take you up and you can take a piano up with you and you can fly around and around the earth at 22,000 mph (orders of magnitude faster than a bullet) and can take the piano with you there, too. (Once Elon Musk gets his stuff together.)
